Expecting baby #1
I feel so bad for all the expecting moms right now who cannot get their maternity photos taken during these stay at home orders… Try to at least get your husband to get some shots of you to document your belly’s growth. Wear something fitted, that will show the shape of your belly, look for good, even light – not direct, harsh sun, and go for simple: areas in the house with no clutter and simple lines so the attention can go to you. Some close up of the belly, but also some pull back shots would be great. Be mindful of the angles: don’t shoot too low or too high. Right around eye level would work best in order to not get too much distortion. If you are shooting outside (backyard), early morning or late afternoon are always the best time outdoors. If you are shooting inside the house, watch the windows and doors to figure out the best time of the day to get that beautiful, even light. Do you make up and hair: try to make the best of it. These are my quick Covid-19 Session tips for a DIY maternity session.
I hope all expecting moms get their photos taken, one way or another. If you are due towards the end of the year there is a great chance that you will be able to hire me (or another photographer you love) for photos. But if your due date is approaching quickly, these tips will at least get you some images to document this special time in your baby’s story.
In the meantime, you can get some ideas from this lovely Maternity Session I did last year. The baby now is already 1, and I am rushing to catch up on my Blog posts, as you know… But these are timeless, and my heart feels so happy every time I look at them.
