All of my Newborn Session are done at your home or at my studio. You can choose between a Lifestyle Session and a Combo Session.
A Newborn Lifestyle Session is a very candid, documentary style of family and new baby. If it is done at your house, we will select the best spots in the house for light and interest (like the parents’ bedroom, nursery or living room) and I will get the best angles of the family interacting with the baby. In my studio I have a bed and the photos will be taken mostly there of the family with the baby. The baby will not be in props/posed. It is a very organic/natural session. My combo session is primarily a lifestyle session with 2 basic poses where the baby will be swaddled and placed in two different props done. The posed portion usually takes about 30 minutes and I will bring them to your house if you choose to do the photos at there.
All options offer beautiful images for you to document and remember your newborn during this special time.
The most precious time to photograph a newborn baby is within two weeks of birth. Most of my sessions, whether at home or at the studio, are done when baby is between around 1-2 weeks old. The way they look so small in your arms or curl up perfectly, their tiny little toes, their unexpected smiles… During this time babies will usually retain some of the natural curl from when they were in mommy’s tummy and be more sleepy and that is why it is very important that the newborn session is done at this stage.
My lifestyle sessions usually last 1 hour and the Combo between 1.5 and 2 hours. There is no rush with a newborn photography session. I do not mind waiting for you to nurse/feed, or taking a break to soothe your baby. I have a very a flexible shooting schedule when it comes to how I will approach your session and it all comes down to feeding breaks and cuddle breaks. I give direction and guidance to a point but mostly I am just creating a space and opportunities for connections to happen naturally.
I offer discounted packages when a Newborn Photo Shoot is booked with a Maternity or other milestones sessions, such as 6 months, Cake Smash or 12 months sessions.
